Gladiators

Gladiator, a PvP character that can only gain status through killing other gladiators.
To become a gladiator all you need is a new level 1 character and the courage to take part.

Steps to Enroll:
Create a level 1 character,
Speak to Mangler in the Gladiator Pits, located in Chance Square.
You will now be given the Gladiators mark. This includes an item in your inventory which helps you find other gladiators and a flag on your back to let everyone know who you are.
You will be also given enough exp to get to level 3.

Gladiators

Gladiators are the PvP part of LoC and operate outside the normal LoC Rules which is outlined below.
The First and major difference between gladiators and normal NWN characters is that they use Hit locations so make things a little more interesting.  This is on top of normal NWN combat and is unique to Gladiators.  Again this is being expanded on once we have fully play tested.
As a starting point we use the following rules for hit locations.

Builds and general restrictions

Gladiators have the following restrictions,
Restrictions

  • Gladiators cannot change alignment
  • Gladiators do not get full benefits of paladin/monk unless they take 5 levels in them
  • Gladiators can only use non weapons got from their supplies merchant.
  • Gladiators DO NOT get xp from monsters (they do from PvP  vs other gladiators)
  • XP will drop each time you kill the same player that reset (as a rough guide 10 kills = 1 level).
  • Gladiators can only use weapons with no enhancements until they increase them using the gladiator supplies enhancer stones.
  • Gladiators cannot get Devastating Critical.
  • Gladiators cannot get Epic Dodge.
  • Cannot cast spells while improved expertise is on.

Equipment

Except for weapons (which may eventually be only sold in supplies) a glad has to buy all equipment from the gladiator supplies merchant.  They get weapons (none enchanted) from chance main and the first time the quip them they are changed into Gladiator weapons.

Armour
Armour offers increased protection resistance and glad Critical immunity but the heavier the armour the slower the Gladiator and the lower the Reflex save. There are also armours availabe that go beyond norms (such as Orc plate which is +10 AC and is very heacy so slows down lots)
Shields
These offer standard protection and protect the left arm, they also slow movement and lower Reflex Save based on the shield size.  Tower shields also offer increased protection vs piercing attacks.
Helmets
Gladiators cannot wear Helmets
Other items
No restrictions except they can only be enchanted by the gladiator stones.

Guilds

Gladiators are the can get PvP territories from other guilds, the procedures for this will be outlined in the guild system updates but the reward will be 5% xp bonus per territory taken.

Rewards

I am working on a reward for getting a level 40 gladiator and it will probably be a unique item that is very useful in the game.  This is a work in progress as until we use gladiators we don’t know how easy they are to level.

Rules:
The rules are here to make this work better, anyone breaking them will first be warned and then be disallowed from taking part.

No powerleveling, this means you can not let
someone kill you over and over to gain levels
and tokens.

Gladiators are not allowed to Reroll or use any other DM Center Services other than the Wing DM.

Normal players and Gladiators CANNOT PvP.  If one attacks the other (either way), both will incur XP loss and receive jailtime.

How it works:
You can not level up by killing monsters. To level up, you need to win Gladiator Battles.

You will only gain a kill from killing someone of challenge rating moderate or higher. (Plus or Minus Two Levels)

Upon killing another Gladiator you will receive a kill token, this token can be spent in the Gladiator shop which holds custom items for you to buy at level 20.

You will not be able to use Time Stop, Heal pots or Greater Restoration Scrolls, also no Rods or Items for Buffs.

FAQ:
How do i get gold?
You can kill monsters like anyone to get gold or you can use a questing character to fund your Gladiator's career.
