Quest Creation
| 1.) | Keep Areas small with max size 14 x 14 (use the smallest amount of space possible), most of the areas should be smaller than 14x14. |
| 2.) | Each area MUST have unique resref tag and name. Now this is hard to tell sometimes cause the name the toolset diplays is not the Resref name. The best way to do this is when you make an area call it a small name i.e babathrone then remame it when you actually do want. We will not import anything that overwrites a resref in chance. To check if the resref is acceptable right click on the area name in the areas palette. Then choose Properties. Click the advanced tab in the properties menu. The resref is there in light grey. You cannot change it after you create an area so name the area something short (under 14 characters) with no spaces and no strange characters (keep it to letters and numbers only). This will ensure that your resref is unique. |
| 3.) | Keep placeables to a minimum (to save space on the server). You are allowed 10 non-functioning placeables per area unless they are VITAL to the quest. This will be judged on a case-by-case basis and is a guideline, not a set rule. However if you have too many placeables cluttering an area we will ask you to delete them. |
| 4.) | EVERYTHING MUST HAVE UNIQUE RESREF (see2) |
| 5.) | Hellball is allowed on monsters, but try not to overdo it, by having too many use that spell. |
| 6.) | Try and decide what the difficulty level of your quest is to give us some idea. |
| 7.) | No items over Level 22 (25 for weapons). Please be sensible about the levels of the items and the quantity of items you put in your quest. If you make a level 5 quest then put a max level of 6 or 7 on the items that drop: We are sure all you builders are aware now to send any new quests to us please at zu (at) legendsofchance.net and clive.work (at) ntlworld.com to check items and to include a list of the names. We are going with the following rules for items in any new level 40 quest: Drops: Max item value on drops: 215k One max item value of 500k on final boss. Weapons: Max weapon level 25. Physical immunes: 10% Slash immune max on armor 10% Bludge immune on helmet 10% Pierce immune on belt Mage weapons: Max value 215k Follow all custom rules for items. Now for the other bit that we wanted to lay out. These are not hard and fast rules that won't ever be deviated from. Items that you create and you think should be higher then this for whatever reason will be discussed on a case by case basis. Someone just made a Sickle and I thought that the sickle is so underused that they should buff it up and make it a bit more expensive. |
| 8.) | All monsters are encounters not placed in the toolset. We will not import the mod otherwise. |
| 9.) | Try and make a quest rather than just a hack and slash. A little bit of a story or theme goes a long way. |
| 10.) | Indicate to me where the quest starts from. A great way to make this simple is to put Quest Start in the name of the area that is the start and also put an area transition or door where you want it to connect with the name WP_yourquest_start. |
| 11.) | Check all area transitions. We understand that sometimes the best way to test is to put on server and see but if you test them before hand it makes it easier later. |
| 12.) | All doors/area transitions must have a unique tag so they don't get mixed up with other game resources. Be very specific when naming your tags so that there are no mix-ups! |
| 13.) | All scripts must be flagged so we can have a look :) |
| 14.) | Send an ERF with all items that are dropped to DM Zu And DM Shine . We will look and make sure they fit the rules, and then we will import them (see rule 7). |
| 15.) | Please try and send the quest as an ERF file (only 1) not a mod file as it makes my life easier to import. |
| 16.) | You must understand that since LoC is an epic server the monster will have to be powerful, expect considerable tweaking once the quest is in chance and do not get discouraged if at first the monsters are too easy or too difficult. |
| 17.) | Use a naming reference for your quests i.e Tiamat - Umu demons, Tiamat - Umu Demons 2 etc and try to put your monsters together in one area or make them obvious to find for the DMs so if they need to spawn something they can do so. |
